Heritage rhubarb

We tuck our heritage rhubarb plant in for winter.

Now that autumn has passed and the leaves have died back, the root remains in the soil, waiting for spring. To protect it through the cold months, we cut back our fern patch and use the fronds as a natural winter blanket. In the first video, we're cutting back the fern.

In the second, we're placing the fronds onto the rhubarb mound.

The photo below, shows the final result. The rhubarb now has its blanket for the winter months.

This rhubarb root is a traditional family variety, passed down through generations — real living heritage.

And yes… it tastes incredible.
